Thursday 18th: approach to the Refuge du Couvercle
37-024 Looking up the Mer de Glace at the junction of the Glacier du Tacul (straight ahead), and the Glacier de Leschaux (coming in from the left, between the moraine and the rock), where we went. 37-023 Andy on the right moraine of the Mer de Glace.
37-022 Evident glacial retreat. (I think this is the Glacier d'Envers de Blaitière, which is shown on the map as a tributary of the Glacier du Tacul.)
Saturday 20th: unsuccessful attempt on Pointe Isabelle (3761 m)
37-021a Looking down the Glacier de Talèfre to the Glacier du Tacul, from below Pointe Isabelle. The Vallée Blanche rises up on the far side of the Glacier du Tacul; the high snowy summit on the left is the Mont Blanc. 37-020 Andy at about 3500 m, with the walls of Les Courtes behind.
